Case results

Verdicts and settlements obtained by attorney Paul R. Shalhoub for injured people in Palm Beach County. Each one below is listed with what it actually turned on, because the number by itself tells you very little about whether a firm can help you.

Two of these went to a jury. The rest resolved because the insurer decided a trial was the worse option. That distinction matters more than the totals: an insurance company prices a claim partly on whether the lawyer across the table has tried cases before, and it keeps a record.

Verdicts

$245,000
Jury verdict · driver insured by State Farm

Sixteen times the last offer made before trial, after more than two years of litigation. The size of the verdict also won the client attorney’s fees and costs on top of the award.

6×
Jury verdict · Walmart

A slip and fall tried to verdict against Walmart. The jury returned six times the offer Walmart had made shortly before trial, and the verdict again carried fees and costs for the client.

Settlements

$750,000
Box truck rear-end

Recovered within three months of filing suit for a working mother of two who was rear-ended by a box truck, with the cost of her future medical care built into the figure rather than left out of it.

$500,000
Motor vehicle crash · policy limit

The full amount of the available coverage. Where the at-fault driver carries a limit, that limit is the ceiling on what any lawyer can recover from them, and the work is proving the claim is worth all of it.

$250,000
Car crash · policy limit

Again the full policy. Two different crashes, two different carriers, the same outcome: everything that was available to collect.

$50,000
E-bike struck by a car · policy tendered

Liability was disputed and the client was on an electric bike, which is the fact pattern carriers most like to argue about. The insurer tendered its policy rather than defend it.

What these say, read properly

A multiple is a better signal than a total

Six times the pre-trial offer. Sixteen times the last offer. Those two numbers describe the gap between what the insurance company thought the case was worth and what twelve people who heard the evidence thought it was worth. A firm that settles everything never generates that number, because the gap is only ever tested at trial.

A policy-limit recovery is a ceiling, not a compromise

The $500,000 and the $250,000 were the entire available coverage. When a claim is worth more than the policy, the lawyer’s job is to establish that early enough that the carrier pays everything rather than gambling. Judged as a percentage of what could be collected, those are complete recoveries.

Speed and value usually pull against each other

The $750,000 came three months after suit was filed, which is unusually fast for a figure that size. That happened because liability was clean and the medical picture was already documented. Most cases do not look like that, and pushing for speed in the wrong case costs the client money.

The cases nobody puts on a website

This page does not list every result. Several settlements are governed by confidentiality agreements, and those terms are honored. There are also recoveries in the six-figure range that are not itemized here. Across his career, including matters handled before this firm opened, Mr. Shalhoub has recovered tens of millions of dollars for injured clients.

Results obtained between 2017 and the present include matters Mr. Shalhoub handled at previous firms, before founding Shalhoub Law Injury & Accident in 2024.

What actually moves the number on a claim

Paul spent the first part of his career at an insurance-defense firm. These are the factors he watched carriers weigh from the other side of the table.

The coverage that existsThe single biggest limit on any claim. Bodily injury limits, and whether the injured person has uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage of their own, usually matter more than any argument a lawyer makes
Property damage and impactThe photographs of the vehicles are read as a proxy for the force involved, fairly or not, and they are among the first things an adjuster looks at
Treatment on the dayEmergency care on the day of the crash is treated very differently from a first visit two weeks later
Whether treatment was consistentGaps in care are read as recovery, whatever the real reason for them
Conservative care versus invasiveInjections and surgery move a valuation. So does whether the care was proportionate to the injury
The age of the injured personA permanent injury in a younger person carries more future consequence, and the valuation reflects it
Who is on the other sideWhether the lawyer has tried cases, and whether this particular carrier has lost to them before

What this page cannot tell you

It cannot tell you what your case is worth. Any firm that gives you a number before seeing your records, the coverage and the facts is guessing, and the guess is usually designed to make you call rather than to be accurate.

What it can tell you is who would handle it. There is one attorney at this firm. The lawyer who evaluates your claim is the lawyer who negotiates it and, if the carrier will not move, the one who tries it. The results above are his, not a team’s.

Common questions

Does a past result predict what I would recover?

No. Every case turns on its own facts, its venue, the insurance that actually exists and the medical evidence. Past results are a record of what this attorney has done, not a forecast of what any other case will do.

Why are some results shown as a multiple instead of a dollar figure?

Because in those cases the multiple is the meaningful fact. A verdict that comes in at six or sixteen times the last offer describes how far apart the insurer’s valuation was from a jury’s. Where the dollar figure is the meaningful fact, it is stated.

Why are some settlements confidential?

Defendants frequently require confidentiality as a condition of settling, and those agreements are binding. The firm will not publish the terms of a case it agreed to keep confidential, including for former clients who are no longer in contact.

Do these results include work done at other firms?

Yes. Mr. Shalhoub practiced at other firms before founding this one in 2024, and results from that period are his work. Where a figure covers his whole career it is described that way rather than implied to be the firm’s.

What does it cost to hire a lawyer?

Nothing. The consultation is free and confidential, with Paul directly. The firm advances case costs, and you owe no attorney’s fee and no reimbursement of those costs unless it recovers compensation for you.

Prior results do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome. Every case is different, and the result in any given case depends on its own facts, the venue and the insurance coverage available.

What happens if you call

You speak to Paul, not an intake screener. The consultation is free, and he will tell you honestly whether you need a lawyer at all — some claims do not. If he takes the case, the preservation letters and the notices to the insurers go out that day, and the calls to you stop. You treat; he deals with the other side. Nothing is settled without your decision, and you see the net figure before you sign anything.
